MN Nice – Mixtapes/ Albums Galore
Long time no speak, children. It’s been a long time. You miss me? No? It’s coo, I ain’t miss y’all too much either. I’m wolfin‘. I’ve been going through a small case of withdrawal, but I’m back in this THANG.
Ayyeee *runs around the club*
Anywho, while on my hiatus, a plethora of TC artists dropped Albums/ Mixtapes. I’m probably the biggest critic in the world when it comes to music, so when I tell you that there’s some DOPE shit on a lot of these projects, you can trust me. The Twin Cities could really be a hotbed for local hip hop if it decided it wanted to be, but that’s a topic for another discussion.
MN Nice (no specific order):
I fuck with Mike Dreams. He’s a positive dude, a rarity in music these days, especially from local artists. For some reason a lot of TC MC’s think they’re out here shining already. He spits what he knows, and I can respect that. He’s out here working hard, and it’s going to pay off. Check him out, if you already haven’t.
Youngin From ’88, Mixtape
Finding Novyon brings something unique to the Twin Cities hip hop scene. His style is like an electro – dance – hip hop fusion. The production on his latest project, Saiyan EP, is something to fuck with. Check it.
I couldn’t find a site that would let me embed it, so click the link:
My man’s been putting on for the Twin Cities for a while now. He has quite the following. There’s some shit on here to smoke to, vibe to, move slo–mo to. Be on the look out for cuz, he’s making small moves.
Late Nights & Early Mornings
I haven’t even had a chance to check this jaunt out yet. I just know there are some homegrown heavy hitters on this thang: Toki Wright, Desdemona, Felix (of Heiruspecs), etc. I’m sure it knocks. CHEG it.
Big Jess Presents: Honorable Mention Volume 1
Aw, snap. *Hov voice* It’s ya boy! Dah. The reason I’ve been M.I.A. from the blog is because I was working on my debut mixtape, Just Cause. I don’t know if y’all knew I spit, but I do. Lyricism, some dope production from the likes of Gmo Beatz, Nicamedus, Blakz and Kelly Portis (to name of few). The first of many. CHEG it.
I just realized I don’t have fancy “artist pics” D-zam. I need to get on that.
Keon Rogers is a force to be reckoned with. Flat out. He’s a songwriter for Songbook and has toured all over the country with ya boy, Trey Songz. He’s one of those rare singer/rapper combo’s that can actually do both well. You’ll definitely be hearing about this cat in the future.
Dose of Reality
The Resume is by far my favorite Fev-R Mixtape. He continues to progress with each project he drops and that’s what I love to see in an artist — evolution. The production on this joint is hot. His delivery is passionate. There are some bars on this jaunt. Real solid project. I expect great things from this young man. Cheeeg it.
Last, but definitely not least, the beautiful, the talented, Ashley Dubose. This young lady . . . man. This voice — smooth, silky. The songwriting (which is something TC singers seem to struggle with for some reason) is on point. The production. Oh. And she raps. *swoon*Yeah. I have no doubt in my mind that she’s going to get to where she’s going. Talent is talent. I don’t think there’s a song on this project that I don’t fuck with. I’m sure you’ll feel the same. Be on the look out for this woman. Chegggggggg it.

And that about wraps it up, children. I would put links and such to find these artists, but if you listen and dig it. You’ll do the legwork yourself. I know there’s a slew of artists I didn’t mention. If you know someone who needs love, drop me a comment. And I’ll be sure to listen and maybe they’ll end up on the next. MN Nice post.
Until next time,
