Trucker Strike: “Ride for the Constitution” in Full Swing
In case you didn’t get the memo — this weekend, from Oct 11-13, truckers from around the nation (3000 0r s0) will be circling the Beltway in Washington DC and Virginia as a peaceful protest against our governments outright disregard for our constitutional rights. Here’s a snippet from examiner.com explaining their mission:
“The movement has clear objectives and in their own words, ‘The American people are sick and tired of the corruption that is destroying America! We therefore declare a GENERAL STRIKE on the weekend of October 11-13, 2013! Truck drivers will not haul freight! Americans can strike in solidarity with truck drivers! The American people are sick and tired of the corruption that is destroying America! We therefore declare a GENERAL STRIKE on the weekend of October 11-13, 2013! Truck drivers will not haul freight! Workers will call in sick! Consumers will not buy or sell anything on this date! Stay home! Buy nothing!’
Truckers have encouraged people to prepare for this event by purchasing supplies for the weekend, and perhaps even the upcoming week. With so many trucks participating and refusing to haul freight, there could be a shortage of supplies.”
The founders of this protest have been met with many roadblocks (no pun intended) a long the way in regard to gaining a following. Their Facebook page was shutdown after reaching around 130,000 “likes”, their Twitter account was deactivated, their url was shutdown. And I’m about 100% sure if I was to walk down the street asking if they heard about this jawn, they’d be completely oblivious to what I’m talking about. Kind of makes you think.
I encourage you guys to keep your eye on this protest and to show your support the best way you can.
Solidarity is key. It’s about time we got angry. About time we spoke out. About time we stood together as a unified front. Let’s get it.
